" How does one become a butterfly?" she asked pensively.
"You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar".
~Trina Paulus, Hope for flowers
While walking or should I say skipping...with my husband yesterday afternoon.
He admired how I am really moving forward in my life
He admired how I am really moving forward in my life
with intent.
I have had to take care of few things emotionally
to do so.
Made peace with the past
not look back
and leap forward.
I landed where I need too.
amongst fiber and all this yarn.
Born a "sheep" in the Chinese astrology
fiber runs thru my blood.
I guess putting things aside
that I was not
or aspired to become that wasn't " me".
I created room and space for something I am.
It was there all the time.
Reading Marianne Williamson many moons ago, she wrote of a man who lived in Kauai, Hawaii-
he knew the coastline of that beautiful Island better than anyone, every little nook and cranny.
People would ask if they could go with him on his skiff...so he could show them.
This knowledge and hobby eventually turned into a full time business for him.
He now has a fleet of zodiacs and gives tours to visiting tourists.
This always stuck with me....it was meant to be.
His expertise became his lifetime work.
I am so grateful to do something I love...after all these years of searching.
Lately there has been some really fun changes.
I have a new logo-
I adore the flower.
it symbolizes growth...how it opens and blooms.
a Magnolia
or then again
it could be a Lotus Blossom
which has spiritual meaning for me.
Either way, it just fits.
Magnolia Hnadspun has also found a new home...
a yarn store in Fort Collins, Colorado.
I have been asked to contribute to a " yarn, & spinning " book
that is being written and published in U.K.
So why am I writing this...?
I wish I would have started sooner
thrown caution to wind
-let go of my fear of failure
...and not have listened to a certain someone
and a few somebodies that really messed up my life.
If you are thinking of taking the leap in what ever your passion might be,
I encourage you.
Do it.
Own it.
It's hard work every day
it's worth ever second of it.
Don't wait.
If you are lucky enough to have something that found you...then grab hold of it and jump!
Where you land is totally up to you!
Endless possibilities out there are waiting for you.
you'll be skipping.
Promise.
I have goose bumps and tears in my eyes. Camilla, I am so happy to hear you say these words. I knew you by your yarn. The colors are amazing and they really really work together. You inspire me all the time. The sense of color theory that you have is as good as a Bonnard Painting or a Georgia O' painting or a Gauguin painting or even Picasso! I love to see my friends become all that they can be. You have so many natural talents. Watching you grow is like watching some of the singers on American Idol, this year. They are the best ever and it is so exciting to see pure talent!
ReplyDeleteDwelling in what was keeps you stuck. Glad to see you get your wheels out of the rut!
Everyone better step aside cause here you come!
I love your photography too!
This is so good to read!
ReplyDeleteYour wool is great and full of energy :)
I recognized a lotus in your logo.
LOVE IT !!!!!
What lovely encouraging words. Thank you for taking the time to write them down and pass them along. I love what you have done. Congratulations for being bold!!
ReplyDeleteThank you from the bottom of my heart. I am looking, searching, i will find it! Silver, fiber, who knows!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you, Camilla, that you are blossoming so. You give hope to the rest of us. And your beautiful yarn is so beautifully photographed by you. You have so many talents.
ReplyDeleteMy heart is pounding as I read these words. There IS something that has found me recently and I haven't stepped out into it fully because of fear...that it will be hard...that I can't do it...you know the list. Thank you for sharing this Camilla. I think I needed the nudge. I'll let you know how it goes.
ReplyDeleteOh...and btw. You are blossoming into an even more beautiful woman than you already were. I'm so proud of the amazing things you are doing! Your yarn is absolutely stunning. I must learn to knit!
SUCH a great post...this is something I am struggling with lately. Or maybe not struggling...maybe more like waiting for that "thing" to reveal itself to me. Your words go along with my words today on my blog...I know I was born an artist. But..yes...the voices along the way that said NO...you're not good enough...it doesn't make sense...you need a REAL job...time to shut those voices off...and throw caution to the wind. Waiting for "it" to find me...
ReplyDeleteWow...just went and looked at your Etsy shop...AMAZING! I so wish I was good with yarn... It's all so gorgeous...I'm especially loving Freshwater Pearl...

ReplyDeleteas one who not just gets to read - but see your face, i must say you are shining.. glowing.. whatever it may be. it is a beautiful thing when one finds ones passion and runs like the wind. doors open, things bloom, there are blessings around every turn. God is soo good. i loved every word camilla.
ReplyDeleteWhat an encouraging post, I am so glad you have found yourself and what you were meant to be doing. I am travelling on that same road at the moment and am nearly finding my way. It is an upsetting experience though but I can see the light .... especially after reading your post. Thank you. xx
ReplyDeleteI love your new you. I loved what I knew from the old one too (The photographer Camilla), but your new energy is almost electric, I can feel through your words & through my screen. Amazing. I love your new logo by the way. Congratulations with being brave taking the jump! You deserve everything good coming your way!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the gorgeous, colorful yarns! And also the encouraging, inspiring words. :-)
ReplyDeletei feel like i believe you here. i really really do. and you know what's weird, or cool, or whatever you want to call it, it's in large part because i recently knit up a cute elf hat with my first skein of yarn from magnolia, your hands, ever. it was a magical experience. a fun beautiful magical few hours. with size 13 needles, which were very new for me, and your yarn, which is very new for me. little things kept happening, little lights kept turning on, seriously almost like another realm was accessible. i'm so serious! thank u!
